Privacy notice for owners

How Jubilee looks after your details and your portfolio data. Version 2026-10-owner-v2, updated 27/10/2026.

Who this notice is for

Jubilee is an app for people who buy and let apartments in South Africa. This notice is for owners: the person who creates a portfolio and runs it. Team members, agents and tenants have their own notice, linked at the end of this page.

What we collect

We only keep what the app needs to work.

  • Your account: your name, email address and password. Passwords are stored as a one-way scramble, so nobody can read them.
  • Your portfolio: the units, bonds, leases, payments, expenses and documents you add.
  • People you add: tenant and agent names, contact details and the documents you upload for them.
  • Your choices: when you accepted this notice, which version you read and whether you want product news.

Why we use it

We use your details to run the app for you: to sign you in, keep your records and send the emails the app needs, such as invites, sign-in links, alerts and reminders. We rely on the agreement you make with us when you sign up: we need these details to give you the service.

Product news is different. We only send it if you tick the box for it, and you can stop it at any time. It is off unless you choose it.

Tenant and agent details you add

When you add a tenant or an agent, you decide what to keep about them and why. Jubilee stores and protects those details for you and does not use them for anything else.

ID documents and proof of address confirm who is on a lease. Upload them only when you need them.

The payment track record lists facts from the payments you record: paid on time, late, short or missed. It stays inside your portfolio, is seen only by you and the agent who manages the unit, and is never shared with other landlords.

Who can see your data

Only the people you invite, and only the parts their role needs. An agent sees just the units you give them. A tenant sees just their own lease, payments and issues. Every table in the database checks this on every request.

We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.

Where it is stored

Your data and files are stored by Supabase in Frankfurt, Germany, in the European Union. The app itself runs on Vercel and emails are sent through Resend. These services may handle your data outside South Africa, under their own security and privacy terms.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is open. When you ask us to delete it, we delete it or remove anything that links it to you, unless a law requires us to keep it for longer.

Keep your own copy of anything you need for tax before you ask for deletion.

Your rights

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you can:

  • ask what we hold about you and get a copy
  • ask us to correct anything that is wrong
  • ask us to delete your data
  • object to how we use it, and stop product news at any time
  • complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za

Who to ask

You can see and correct your portfolio records yourself in the app. For a copy of your data, a deletion or an objection, ask Jubilee. While a record is disputed, we limit its use until it is sorted out.

Tenants and agents may ask you about the details you keep on them. For their records you decide, and Jubilee helps you carry it out.

Keeping it safe

Connections to Jubilee are encrypted. Access is checked per role on every request. If something goes wrong that puts your data at risk, we will tell you as soon as we reasonably can.

Changes to this notice

When this notice changes, we update the version and date at the top of this page and tell you in the app.
